One thing we don’t get to choose really, is when grief and the need to mourn shows up. There are some predictable times of course, like birthdays and anniversary dates and holidays. But there are some unpredictable times too…in the grocery store, waiting in traffic when you see someone who reminds you of… When those unpredictable times show up, I encourage you to make space to mourn, as soon as you ever can, in the moment, or soon after. Acknowledge your loss. It’s real.
